Recently LinkedIn released a NEW mobile app for both iPhone and Android operating systems which I believe was long overdue.  In the video below I walk through a short demo of the app on my iPhone.  Enjoy!

Home – Contains content from your network including industry, skills, content and conversations that you care about and are relevant to you. This is also where you will Share updates and even photos directly from your mobile device.

Me – This section is designed to help you see who and how people are engaging with you on LinkedIn.  This includes Likes, Shares, Comments, new connections, endorsements, who’s viewed your profile and more.

In addition to engagement this section allows you to view and update your profile directly from your mobile phone.

Messaging – I have heard mixed reviews from people about the new LinkedIn messaging platform and I have to admit I did prefer the old version as well. Messaging within the app is very similar to the desktop version and is very easy to use.

My Network – This area allows you to view the “Keep in touch” updates that you would normally see on the desktop version.  Things like work anniversaries, new jobs, birthdays and recently published can be found here. All in an effort to allow you to better engage your network as changes take place.

In addition you can also see “People you may know” but please be careful not to invite people to connect with you from the mobile app because it will send a “generic invite.”  I was very disappointed to see the new app would not allow you  to send custom invitations to connection.  Until this is fixed I highly recommend you only invite new connections through the desktop version.  My hopes are that LinkedIn will recognize the value and update it in the near future?

Search – The search is very similar to the desktop version including the ability to search people, groups, jobs, keyword, etc.  I also like the fact that it saves my recent searches and that is appear to be quite a bit faster than the previous version.

Overall I am happy with the new mobile app because it is more modern and continues to focus on engagement and a solid users experience.  I’d love to hear your feedback so comment below with your thoughts and feedback.
